Proto Matrix (2005)

The Proto Matrix was Dye’s budget friendly entry to the Matrix world. The 2005 Proto Matrix shown here has simpler milling, moulded eye covers and runs at a higher pressure than it’s contemporary big brother from Dye.

2005 Proto Matrix

The Matrix is a spool valve design and unlike many other spool valve markers features a low pressure regulator (LPR) in addition to its high pressure regulator (HPR). The LPR supplies air to the solenoid valve and is used to drive the bolt forwards and backwards during the firing sequence.

The Proto Matrix series ran from 2005 to 2008 when it was phased out by Dye.

I have also written two maintenance articles on the Proto Matrix. These are located in the “On The Workbench” area of the site.
