MacDev Cyborg (2003)
Released in 2003 the Cyborg was Australian firm Mac Developments (MacDev) first in house designed electro-pneumatic marker. Though it wasn’t quite the first electro-pneumatic marker that MacDev had produced. Before the Cyborg, MacDev did produce a version of the Indian Creek Designs (ICD) Bushmaster called the Sonic Bushmaster under licence.
The 2003 MacDev Cyborg is a poppet valve marker with a simple slab sided body typical of many markers of the era. It was easy to maintain and clean, if a little heavy on the field and quite popular with players in Australia. Later models of the Cyborg became progressively lighter and more sophisticated until the model was phased out in around 2015.
This 2004 Cyborg is in top condition and even has its original MacDev Conquest air system attached.
The final photo was taken in 2004 and shows all the Cyborgs that turned up for a Peninsula Paintball Club (PPC) social day at Carrum Downs. I’d forgotten just how popular they were at the time in Australia. I wonder where they all are today?
